Soutra is a coffee shop at House of Soutra in Midlothian, well known for its friendly customer service, outstanding home baking and stretching rural view! It’s open every day, from 9am to 5pm (until 4pm November-March). We follow all covid-safety guidance issued by the Scottish Government.
Our food is homely with a focus in on tasty soups, simply savoury meals and, above all, providing an excellent choice of baking. Everything is made in our kitchen at Soutra, all from fresh ingredients. We have lots of traditional baking recipes, and others are new creations which we’ve adapted over the years. We actually have over 300 baking recipes in total, so we are sure that a visit to Soutra will not leave those with a sweet tooth disappointed.
The team behind Soutra are led by Jo Sutherland, who also runs nearby Hillhouse Farm Escapes. Jo has worked in hospitality for over 25 years, mostly in the restaurant trade. The day-to-day management of Soutra is led by Meg Hill and Frances Dickman.
